So I came across this sentence in a manga I'm trying to read and i can't come up with a decent translation for the life of me.
The 群れやがって isn't giving me much trouble but I can't find out what ナメ means. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
I need more context to be sure but something tells me that the ナメ may be as in "to lick" or 'to suck." This is a term that can be confusing because in English, if you said "suck up to someone," that would strongly imply that the "sucker" is in a submissive position vis-à-vis the "suckee" but in Japanese if I said "Xさんにんめられた” that does not mean that X actually licked me or that he/she was submissive in relation to me but rather that X took advantage of me, used me or got away with something that he/she should not been able to get away with. Does this help?
Ah, ok that makes alot of sense! Thanks so much for your help!
なめる means to look down on someone, and you're probably mistaking の for め. ～てんのか？ is a casual way of saying ～ているんですか？So a rough translation is "are you f***ing with me"?
～やがる is a rude conjugation, akin to adding "f***ing" before a verb in English.
oh wow your right! I mistyped and it is indeed の instead of め!
That makes alot of sense if it means along the lines of "are you f***ing with me?" Thanks so much!!!
