Compounds by Kanji Elements Search Tips

  • example The fastest way to find a word is to start with selecting only one element from each kanji, then narrowing your search by completing the other elements.
    i.e. Find 熟語 by selecting 九 → 言 (not 亠 → 九).
  • If you want to speed up and narrow your search, check how many kanjis appear in your compound.
Notice: 々 【くりかえし】 (repetition mark) counts as one character, kana and romaji not.
  • Start by focusing on the rare and complicated elements to get better results first.
  • Select multiple different numbers of kanjis appearing in word to broaden your search.
Note: The multi-radical method works only with the General Dictionary (JMdict).
